Plantations on the way to Richmond



The photos of two of America most important plantations:
The top two photos are of Berkley Plantation home of an American President. It was also the start of Thanksgiving Celebration which was often thought to have started in Massachusetts. At Berkley 120,000 Union troops camped on the grounds as the Grand Army of the Potomac positioned itself to do battle with Robert E. Lee's Virginians. McClellan, the general in command, was never really as good as those leaders of the southern armies.
The Bottom pictures is the home of the Byrds' , Westover Plantation, was governor of Va.
