Well, this week has been a rather enjoyable experience working on a new project and trying to work new information into my pattern of thinking. I find that the experiences I gain from day to day doing sometimes works well with influences from various people in parts of the world where I could neither understand how I might go their or find the money to visit.
Anyhow, doing the virtual tour that is now set up in many cities gives me an understanding of the street level experience of a human City which is what I would like to develop for my own community in some small way.
My other area of interest has been in the sustainability movement. The Scrap house in San Francisco, while now demolished, is an interesting benchmark for some of the products and assemblies we try to put together on a scale greater than a house. What I mean hear is for basic look at the way I and others conserve what is considered a vastly wasteful enterprise- building. And that is the distinguishing function of my effort, to separated DESIGN from the effort to conserve. They both different streams of effort and must be pursued to create lasting acceptance and use. For in my mind Sustainability is all about creating something that will be used or even reused for a long time.
